Dr Jaime Kaminski

Jaime began his career as an archaeologist. He has a Ph.D. from the University of Reading which considered the archaeological evidence for ancient environmental impact. He left archeology in 1996 to become an analyst in a technology research company. There he edited over 50 books and reports on technology issues and implementation in large enterprises. As a technology analyst he has undertaken freelance research and consultancy projects for government, and other public and private organisations internationally. Since 2004 Jaime has worked at University of Brighton's Business School as part of the EPOCH Project. As a Research Fellow he is responsible for research in EPOCH's workpackage 2.6 that evaluates the `socio-economic impact of cultural heritage sites in Europe', with specific reference the impact of technology on those sites. He is a founding member of the CUBIST (Cultural Business: Impact, Strategy and Technology) research group based at the University of Brighton and has co-organised EPOCH's `Heritage Impact' conferences. He was on the organising committee for VAST 2007 and is co-organising the forthcoming ATLAS conference in Brighton - Selling or telling: paradoxes in tourism, culture and heritage. He also works on consultancy projects for socio-economic impact in the fields of social enterprise, health, as well as business modelling. His special areas of interest include travel cost analysis for the heritage sector. Jaime currently combines his interest in heritage with technology and business studies. As such, he provides advice for the properties and tourism board of Sussex Past. He is also co-authoring a major work for Oxbow books on Roman imperial armour in the first and second centuries A.D.
